Just before 8pm last night Central along with District Six Fire Department and Brownsfield Fire Department were dispatched to a possible fire at the intersection of Blackwater and Comite. Upon arrival crews found fire coming from the roof of a church. Crews fought hard to extinguish the fire and after 30 minutes it was deemed under control. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Thank Baton Rouge Fire Department for backfilling our empty station. #CentralFD

Just after 4 PM this evening in Pride’s fire district units from Central, Zachary Fire Department, Chaneyville and Pride Fire Department were dispatched to a large shop on fire behind a home in Indian Mound Subdivision. Engine 343 arrived and immediately started fire attack with a large 2 1/2 inch line. Two additional 2 1/2 inch lines were pulled and the fire was kept from igniting two homes close by. Great job by all. No injuries. Baton Rouge Fire Department investigators were called to the scene.
Central Police Department and EMS also responded.
CFD crews are responding to calls in Beauregard along with Broussard Fire Department's brush truck. A-Shift worked Sunday - Wednesday and B-Shift replaced them working till Saturday.
We responded to Planchet Road for a limb on power lines that caused a small grass fire. Due to the extreme drought the power companies have reported numerous limbs falling from trees.
A Burn Ban is already in place.
The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Red Flag Warning for critical fire conditions, which is in effect from 7 AM Monday to midnight CDT Monday night.
* WINDS...East 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
